ABOUT US

Flextek founder, Rupert Sweet Escott started his flexwing career with Breen Hang Gliders in the early 1970`s. Since then, he has worked with many ultralight companies.

Rupert has played a key role in the development of many products and concepts including the first parapod , the Chrysalis 1992 and the first prone power unit with the engine in the pilots slipstream, the Nomad 1982.

At the age of 16 Rupert was the cutter and pattern maker at Ken Messengers Birdman Sports . At 21, he was running his own manufacturing company, Flight Research. At 29, Rupert had the largest flexwing factory east of the Mississippi, Old Kings Flite Park .

Multi award winning designer, Rupert also introduced the split boom trike configuration, Nomad mark 5 1984. The first internal deflexors, Voyager 1995. The first sliding hang point, Bullet wing 1989, the first overcentre batten ends, Puffin project 1994 .And the first pedal assisted power pod concept for hang gliders and paragliders Airbike 2008.
